Social Work
Those words may bring to mind an overworked caseworker struggling to
accomplish something against great odds with limited resources.
However, social work is more than what professional social workers do.
The task of social work, by which I mean the work of building
strong healthy society, is everyone's responsibility. People are social
beings, wired for connection with one another. As John Donne said
"all mankind is of one author, and is one volume...No man is an island,
entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the
main... any man's death diminishes me, for I am involved in
mankind..."
